Foundation Stage Mission Statement

Within the Foundation Stage at Meadowbrook Primary School we aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment for children and their families in which the children feel included, secure, valued and safe. We understand the importance of establishing positive and trusting relationships with families, and are committed to keeping parents well informed about the curriculum and their child’s progress. We explicitly plan to support children to value others, build relationships and learn to co-operate and share. Inclusion is fundamental to our values and aims and we recognise and provide for the differing needs of individuals and their families.

Through our provision we provide a solid foundation through well planned, rich and stimulating experiences both indoors and out. We carefully take into consideration the children’s interests, and follow their lead whilst providing a balance of direct teaching and child initiated activities. Consequently enabling us to develop their knowledge and skills, and celebrate new achievements.

Reception curriculum information

In the Foundation Stage at Meadowbrook we aim to provide opportunities for all children to be able to meet and exceed the statements outlined in Development Matters. Working through these statements mean that the children move towards achieving the Early Learning Goals by the end of the year.

Children are assessed through observation based practice and learning is developed through both planned for, and independently chosen, play based activities. These are developed through children’s interests.
